Today, 4 June 2024, the Public Land Use and Management (PLUM) Committee will meet at 2 pm to discuss updating the ordinance regarding public notification of building demolitions. In typical city fashion, they will direct the Los Angeles Department of Building Safety and City Planning to study the issue. Really? The same people who maintain the broken system are going to report what is wrong with the system? Or will they contract the study out? Resulting in high expense and unnecessary delays while the problem is studied. I believe that the problems are obvious and the fixes are easy if there was just a will on behalf of the city to truly serve the public.
